This is the only Jane Austen book that I hadn’t read before. As usual, the author doesn’t disappoint.
Emma is a young girl on the verge of being a lady; precocious, beautiful, and rather more snobbish than the average Austen heroine, she is a good natured girl who tenderly loves her depressive father and tries to play match maker among her friends. This latter tendency leads her into interesting drama and the story evolves around Emma’s growing, learning, and maturing as a woman.
An interesting read with Austen’s characteristic prose and ideas.
